Hall Grove is an independent co-educational school for pupils aged 4 to 13. Based in Bagshot, Surrey, the school was founded by the Graham family in 1956 and had just 6 pupils. Today the school, owned by Mr Graham’s son Alastair, has a thriving community of over 330 pupils.
Working with Liz Doran, the school Bursar, Minerva set about reviewing the school’s gas, electricity and heating oil supplies. Unfortunately, the school had just missed the small window of opportunity to renew their electricity contract and were thus tied in to a contract on very poor terms. However, Minerva (working with our energy partner Zenergi Limited), was able to go back and renegotiate with Scottish & Southern.
In addition to electricity the school has a small requirement for heating oil for part of the building. The school were experiencing unreliable service and poor pricing from their incumbent supplier. Having pulled together a consortium of schools in the local area, Minerva was able to negotiate some preferential pricing based on the volume of oil purchased across the group. This enabled Hall Grove to get extremely competitive pricing despite the fact they purchase small volumes on their own.
Electricity – reduction of 38% on current tariff offering savings of >£12,000 per annum on an 18 month fixed contract. Gas – reduction of 29% on current tariff giving savings of just under £5,000 per annum on a 24 month fixed contract.
Both of the above complemented by an invoice checking service to ensure billing is correct throughout the term of the contract. Automatic monitoring of renewal dates to ensure the school doesn’t miss any in the future.
“Lorraine works in a very efficient and professional manner, and she has secured considerable cost savings for my school. We particularly like the ‘unpushy’ approach. Having known her for several years I have no hesitation in recommending Lorraine and her service to any other school.”
